What is the West Suburban Grief Coalition?
We are a non-denominational, combined effort of 15 West Suburban Minneapolis churches to help adults suffering from the loss of a loved one.
Who may participate in the group?
All grieving adults are welcome.
Why should I attend?
Grief is an emotional roller coaster. It is overwhelming, difficult, challenging and confusing. Yes, it is possible to grieve alone, but learning from and being with others who have also suffered a loss and understand is comforting, consoling and healing.

When do you meet?
We meet year-round every Thursday except holidays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
4:00-4:30 pm – Optional Free Time for Refreshments, Socializing, Registration and browsing our library.
4:30-5:00 pm – Devotions & Speaker
5:00-6:00 pm – Group Break-Out Sessions
In the event of bad weather, please contact the church hosting the meeting to inquire about possible cancellation.
How are the Break-Out groups organized?
These are small groups of those sharing a common loss and facilitated by volunteers trained in support group facilitation where participants may share their thoughts, feelings and experiences and help each other heal.
♦ Spouse/Life-Partner Loss – for those who have lost a husband, wife, partner or significant other.
♦ Child Loss – for those who have lost a son or daughter.
♦ Other Family Member or Friend Loss – for those who have lost a parent, sibling or other family member or dear friend.
Who are your group facilitators?
Our facilitators are not therapists. They are volunteers trained to facilitate support groups who have experienced the loss of a loved one and also traveled the path of grief.
Training and supervision of facilitators is provided by Levang and Associates, Inc., a mental health clinic located in St. Louis Park, MN (952-541-4799).
Our Sessions are intended to complement, not replace, professional care.

Must I belong to one of your Member Churches?
No. We are non-denominational and no church or religious affiliation is required. All adults are welcome to attend regardless of background or religion.
Is there a cost to attend?
No. There is no cost to join and meeting attendance is free. However, we do gratefully accept any voluntary offerings made to offset the cost of the refreshments.
How do I participate in your group?
You may come to a meeting and join the group at any time and continue to attend as long as you need us.
